Adjacent to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical is a large open green space that was once a prominent park within Niagara Falls. The medical center wanted to better utilize this green space, restore the once historic park and create a dynamic feature for the City of Niagara Falls, surrounding neighborhoods and for the Niagara Arts and Cultural Center across from the park and hospital.

The hospital’s vision was to restore the historic park of the 1920’s, using the few photographs they had. Their goal was to return tranquil walks, benches, lighting and plantings to the magnificent trees still on the site.

We took the few photos the medical center had, and reconstructed as best we could the intention of the paths and feature areas. We then incorporated the current desire for direct connection to the NACC, and the opportunity to connect to the 12th Street residential area across Walnut Street. Phase I construction of the paths, planting beds and restoration of the historic piers is complete. Benches, a central fountain, outdoor stage area, lighting and new trees are proposed to be constructed in future phases.
