A study was conducted of potential sites for a new canoe launch site along Cayuga Creek for Buffalo Niagara RIVERKEEPER. The study included the development of a canoe trail map and brochure with trail information, routes and safety information. The selection for the new canoe launch, within Jayne Park, was chosen based on ease of launch, neighborhood impacts, user accessibility and safety. A canoe launch design was then developed for this site that incorporated shallow stairs for ease of access into the water during high and low water levels, handrails for safety reasons, signage and new pedestrian access paths to the launch and designated areas for automobile parking for loading and unloading canoes.
